Web Host Macquarie Names Data Center Manager

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Australian web hosting provider Macquarie Hosting (www.macquarietelecom.com/hosting) announced on Thursday it has named Dinusha Koggalahewa as the company’s new date center facilities manager.

The appointment reflects continued growth at Macquarie Telecom and supports the company’s strategy to fulfill market demand for the adoption of its hosting services.

In September, the company upgraded its entire data center network core, including the increase of its scalability across the business and its ability to manage the faster network speeds Australia’s new national broadcasting network will deliver.

Koggalahewa has significant experience in electrical engineering, with focus on the maintenance and upgrade of engineering infrastructure for mission critical data center facilities.

He will help further strengthen the processes and procedures within Macquarie Telecom’s managed hosting environments to “enhance customer experience and service delivery,” says the company.

Other key priorities will include demand forecasting and capacity management as well as implementing additional power efficiency improvements, to enhance Macquarie Telecom’s Green IT proposition.

“We want to attract the market’s best technology skills to Macquarie Telecom, and we are delighted that Dunusha is bringing a wealth of experience, managing mission critical data centers to our business,” says Aidan Tudehope, managing director of hosting at Macquarie Telecom. “We pride ourselves in our ability to offer Australia’s most trusted and reliable server hosting services, and having the right mix of technical skills is central to this. Working with Dinusha we will bring even more business benefits to our customers.”

Prior to Macquarie Telecom, Koggalahewa served as data center facilities manager for ANZ National Bank in Auckland, New Zealand.

In this role, he improved the operations, including reducing engineering infrastructure faults by 83 percent.

Koggalahewa managed ANZ’s five critical data centers across New Zealand as well as overseeing the delivery of engineering, raised floor, operations, and security services with a team.

Before this Koggalahewa served as an electrical engineer and project manager for URS in Auckland, where he gained exposure to many data center sites including those for IBM and EDS.
