Web Host Liquid Web Expands Operating Systems Range on Smart Servers

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Liquid Web announced last week via its blog it has re-engineered its services to provide support for many new operating systems on its proprietary Smart Servers line.

Providing a greater selection of operating systems on dedicated servers can only be beneficial for a hosting provider as it provides customers with more flexibility while appealing to various types of users.

With these latest updates to its Smart Servers, Liquid Web is offering dedicated server hosting with the flexibility of cloud hosting, offering support for Cent OS 6.2, Arch Linux 2011.08.19, Ubuntu 11.10 and Debian 6.0.3 updates.

All of latest versions of these operating systems come with their share of benefits. For instance, Arch Linux offers greater speed, flexibility, and exemplary package management system, CentOS 6.2 has streamlined features, user-friendly improvements and improved efficiency, and Ubuntu 11.10 features enhanced community resources and improved interface.

“With our clientele representing a wide array of diverse tastes, we are constantly looking to re-engineer, innovate and improve with our customers in mind,” said Liquid Web/Storm On Demand founder and CEO Matthew Hill. “These updates to our Operating Systems will provide our users with the most modern, streamlined, efficient and user-friendly options available.”

All of the updates will include all of the latest features, up-to-date tools, fine-grained controls, user-friendly resources as well as refreshed life and support cycles.

Liquid Web operates three data centers located in Lansing, Michigan, where it hosts over 20,000 clients served in over 120 countries. The hosting provider recently expanded into the Western region with its new Phoenix, Arizona location, adding to its central Michigan region location.

This is really good news and now competition will become more stiff if hosting providers are able to offer various operating systems to the buyer.
