(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Layered Technologies (www.layeredtech.com) announced on Thursday it is upgrading its Web-based customer portal, called Pentagon 3.

The newly revamped portal will include added monitoring capabilities and deliver greater convenience and visibility to customers through intuitive and customizable features.

Pentagon 3 will becomey available to all Layered Tech customers via computers, as well as Web-enabled mobile devices later this quarter.

In addition to being able to order virtual machines through the portal, Pentagon 3′s enhancements will include widgets for accessing email clients, RSS feeds, message boards, and calendars sto enable customers to create a customized personal dashboard with direct access to important data.

Layered Tech’s existing customer portal already provides customers with a centralized management system for support, upgrades, hardware information and invoicing.

The enhanced portal’s new features will build on this experience, providing a greater selection of content choices and customization capabilities.

“Pentagon 3 will allow customers to configure their own personal dashboard with drag and drop features and widgets so that all of the tools and information they prefer is accessible via a single location,” says Terrance Bush, COO and CIO of Layered Tech. “And with additional enhancements planned for later this year and onward, Layered Tech customers will have unprecedented visibility and management of their infrastructure, as well as the ability to order virtual machines from within the portal.”

Pentagon 3 enhancements include extensive customization capability, with drag-and-drop features and widgets, so that customers can customize “data dashboards” with the tools and information most useful to them.

The new portal will also provide access to more purchasing options including the ability to buy cloud-based solutions.

Customers will be able to access the VMware Console from within Pentagon 3 so they can view their virtual environment, monitor it, and build templates.

Finally, the panel will feature a full view of the R1Soft Back-up Console to fully manage the server back-up solution.
