(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Canadian Web hosting provider iWeb Group (www.iweb.com) announced on Monday its financial results for the first quarter ended December 31, 2009, as well as named René Bousquet the company’s new director.
The company’s revenues increased to $7.2 million from $6.1 million, an increase of 19 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.
IWeb’s net income also increased to $180,000 compared to the $1,248,000 loss reported a year ago, which was attributed to unrealized exchange loss on the long-term debt.
In the report, iWeb also confirmed a fourth data center with a total capacity of 20,000 servers, which the company first announced last month.
Bousquet was recently appointed to chief commercial officer at TerreStar Solutions. Prior to that, he was a partner at private investment firm Trio Capital.
He started his career at Price Waterhouse in strategic management and market research, where he focused on consumer behavior and retailing.
He has also held many different executive positions at Microcell Telecommunications, including VP of finance and VP of marketing. Following the company’s acquisition by Rogers, he was appointed president of Fido.
“We are proud that René Bousquet has accepted to be a director of the Company,” says Eric Chouinard, iWeb’s president and CEO. “His past experience, especially in executive positions, as the person responsible for finance, for marketing and then as president of a major telecommunication company will bring us new ideas and reinforce our existing marketing team. In addition, René will be the president of a new board of directors’ committee, the Strategy Committee.”
