(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Canadian Web hosting provider iWeb (www.iweb.com) announced on Tuesday it has made a couple of major changes to the company’s management structure.
Cyrille Mertès, who was formerly vice president of IT and infrastructure is now chief technology officer. Marc Trudel, who was previously senior director of customer experience is now the vice president of operations.
Previous iWeb appointments include Marc Guindon being named the iWeb board of directors, and Michel Thivierge being appointed to director of human resources.
According to iWeb, Mertès will be actively involved in the evolution and development of new technologies within the company. Trudel, on the other hand, will oversee most operational activities other than sales and marketing.
The newly created role of chief technology officer will provide greater cohesion between iWeb’s infrastructure, development and technology groups, which Mertès will lead with “high availability and automation in mind,” says the company.
“iWeb’s efficiency depend on the technologies that automate our processes,” says Mertès. “Automation will be our primary focus in the year to come.”
Trudel joined iWeb in early 2008 to lead the company’s customer service reorganization project.
He has since then raised customer satisfaction levels, as well as reengineered support processes by eliminating multiple weaknesses and integrating multiple operational functions into the customer service groups.
Rounding out the rest of iWeb’s management team is chairman and CEO Eric Chouinard, president of products and technologies Martin Leclair, chief financial officer Philip Tousignant, executive vice president of resources Marc Guindon, vice president of sales and marketing Sylvain Leclair, vice president of development and automation Hugo Dénommée and human resources director Michel Thivierge.
The change in management structure also reflects the significant growth iWeb has seen in recent years. The company recently moved up from 100th position to 85th position on the Profit100, an annual ranking of Canada’s fastest growing companies based on revenue growth over the past 5 years.
This past year has seen the company acquire fellow Montreal-based managed hosting provider Netsimplify, surpass the hosting of 10,000 dedicated servers, and more than triple its data center footprint in the past three years.
