(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Web host iWeb (www.iweb.com) announced on Tuesday that its iWeb-CO data center has received the SAS 70 Type II certification.
Located in Montreal, the 29,000 square foot data center is one of four iWeb facilities and is designated for colocation hosting. It is also the only iWeb data center offering cages.
iWeb’s audit was conducted by Deloitte & Touche LLP (www.deloitte.com) and was performed over a six-month period.
“In obtaining this certification, iWeb had two main objectives, confirming the existence of the numerous procedures that were put into action over the last couple of years and demonstrating to its actual and potential customers the rigor of its operations. These two goals were successfully achieved,” iWeb’s president of products and technology Martin Leclair said in a statement.
The review assessed infrastructure and physical security measures in the facility, as well as human resources policies and procedures and insurance coverage.
“The review highlighted the measures implemented to control physical access to our facilities, with surveillance cameras, access cards and biometric checkpoints,” said Cyrille Mertes, iWeb’s chief technology officer. “The audit also confirmed the quality of the maintenance procedures of our electromechanical and fire control equipment. We were confident that we were doing it right and now it is official.”
iWeb provides hosting services to more than 22,500 customers in 150 countries, generating more than 60 percent of its revenue from abroad.
All four of iWeb’s data centers are located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
