iWeb is offering a promotion on its SmartServer for a limited time, according to its website
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider iWeb (www.iweb.com) announced on Thursday that it has activated its 3000th Smart Server and is celebrating the first year anniversary of its flagship server.
This announcement comes a week after iWeb made changes to its dedicated server management and monitoring packages.
Based on its SmartLayer technology, iWeb says its Smart Server eliminates many of the problems associated with the management and use of a dedicated server.
“We stayed in touch with our customers and developed features that meet their expectations,” Martin Leclair, iWeb’s President of products and technology said in a statement. “Customers who buy a Smart Server today will also benefit from any new feature that will be added in the future.”
iWeb says it updated its Smart Server with several new features including both increased security and improved server management. Features are added through the Control Center, the Smart Server’s management interface.
The SuperSmart option provides a software firewall to easily protect critical ports and services, according to iWeb. The Control Center also offers Automated Reinstall of the operating system. iWeb says customers can save and restore data and their Smart Server configurations in a few clicks with the R1Soft backup tools.
According to the press release, Smart Groups brings together multiple Smart Servers in an environment isolated from other clients which allows each server in the group to communicate while remaining invisible to other servers connected to the same LAN. All of the above features are now available in the Smart Services tab in the Control Center.
iWeb says it will continue to add more features in 2012.
The company says it will soon launch a contest to celebrate the first year anniversary. For full details, checkout its website.
Earlier this month, iWeb launched a shared hosting company called Funio. The WHIR interviewed Sylvain Leclair on the new company earlier this month.
