Web Host iomart Rebrands to Reflect Hosting

UK managed hosting provider iomart's new website.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK managed hosting and data services provider iomart hosting (www.iomart.com) announced on Tuesday it has introduced a new brand identity which it says reflects its focus on hosting.

Unveiled to iomart hosting customers on Monday, the new branding is the first in a series of moves by the company to become a top UK provider of managed hosting services.

According to the press release, iomart hosting’s new identity is “intended to reinforce its commitment to integrating realistic and energy efficient stewardship into every aspect of its business, particularly its four UK data centers, for the benefits of its clients.”

The company is striving to reduce its costs at every opportunity, including those related to power, the environment and overall service.

“Data centers and server rooms are by design, un-environmentally friendly buildings and they will never be ‘green’,” says Phil Worms, marketing director at iomart. “The Internet is driving the world’s economy and the demand for computing power keeps rising and it’s a trend that does not show any signs of slowing. Over the past few months, we have implemented several initiatives which tangibly demonstrate our desire to sensibly address the issues that our industry faces.”

The company is founder signatories of the EU Data Centre Code of Conduct, which requires the company to maintain the Code’s energy efficiency best practice, meet minimum procurement standards, and annually reports its energy consumption.

The company says it recently added a range of standard virtualized servers to its core product portfolio.

iomart is also set to roll out an online control panel, which will give hosting customers real time access to its server’s energy and bandwidth consumption straight from the rack.

As part of the rebrand process, iomart business web hosting has launched a new website, as well as joined social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

The new brand was also launched at Internet World 2009, a conference that focuses on Internet and online marketing.

Earlier this year, iomart received confirmation from the International Organisation for Standardisation of its ISO9001:2008 Quality Management Systems and ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Management Systems certification.
