A screen shot of CloudLinux's interface
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Hosting service provider management software developer Cloud Linux (www.cloudlinux.com) announced on Thursday that Web hosting provider InterServer (http://interserver.net) has added CloudLinux to its dedicated server offering.
Interserver says it selected CloudLinux for its new innovative Lightweight Virtual Environment technology that will deliver improved performance, security and reliability for its dedicated hosting customers.
Launched earlier this year at Parallels Summit 2010, CloudLinux’s operating system features Lightweight Virtual Environment, a kernel-level technology that limits the amount of resources available to a group of processes.
Although it is similar to container type virtualization technology, LVE works transparently to manage resources that the Web host sets for the accounts on a server.
“We were so excited to find CloudLinux because it will help us to deliver improved control and stability on our dedicated servers,” says InterServer CTO John Quaglieri. “InterServer provides our customers with high quality hosting and we stand behind our service with the best customers support. Adding CloudLinux to our offerings lets us improve our solutions and give our customers more choice.”
With the deployment of CloudLinux, InterServer customers will receive many benefits increased uptime since, greater reliability and performance with a server that is running at peak operating capacity, better control over CPU resources, increased density so service providers can host more tenants on one server, and compatibility with all major control panels.
According to the press release, the CloudLinux Partner Program offers discounts and competitive pricing and a support model designed to meet the specific needs of Web hosts.
The cloud operating system has signed many partners since its launch, including recent partner CirtexHosting.
