(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Unified data storage and cloud storage hardware components maker IceWEB (www.iceweb.com) announced on Friday that Web hosting provider InfoRelay (www.inforelay.com) is deploying IceWEB Unified Data Storage to power its enterprise cloud infrastructure.

According to the press release, InfoRelay has begun to consolidate all of its file-based cloud operations onto a single storage infrastructure. With IceWEB, InfoRelay can scale its storage to customer demand.

“Our cloud services platform was designed to meet customer needs for enterprise-class data center resources, the IceWEB platform was designed from the onset with key features including virtual machine integration and unmatched storage efficiency,” Russell Weiss, president of InfoRelay said in a statement.

InfoRelay claims its traditional data storage systems were not cost-effective when scaling to meet I/O and growth requirements but with IceWEB, InfoRelay’s cloud infrastructure will support various enterprise applications. The infrastructure will service server and desktop virtualization, web services, high transactional workloads and disaster recovery.

“As businesses adopt cloud services to reduce costs and increase efficiency, the providers’ most immediate challenge is how best to manage the rapid data growth and high performance requirements of their expanding customer base. With IceWEB’s ability to support multiple tiers of data in one platform, cloud providers can deploy cost effective, high density Enterprise SATA drives or high performance SAS and Solid State disk drive to support many types of applications,” Stated John Signorello, CEO IceWEB.  ”IceWEB is working to tightly integrate our platform with all Major Cloud software companies including VMWare, Citrix and Microsoft.”

IceWEB recently won a contract with the City of Baltimore to provide a data storage appliance to support the city’s geographic information system.
