Web Host InetServices to Open Second MA Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider InetServices (www.inetservices.com) announced on Wednesday it has opened its second data center location in Somerville, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston.

The announcement follows the launch of the company’s InetServices Cloud, which it calls a “high performance, highly reliable and scalable” cloud computing infrastructure for its customers.

“Even in this tough economy we have continued to see exceptional growth which has our first data center facility at near full capacity,” says Kevin Soendker, chief operating officer of InetServices. “We choose CoreSite’s Boston data center for its data center expansion because it offers everything we demand in a SAS70 Type II certified facility.”

The CoreSite facility has nearly 125,000 square feet of private data center space and 30MW of power, which lets the company expand its footprint another 4,000 servers without any issues.

The addition of the new data center triples the company’s total capacity to 6,000 servers.

Besides the additional footprint, the new data center offers an additional 6GB of bandwidth connectivity.

The data center is the first part of InetServices’ data center virtualization strategy. The company plans to expand to a third data center on the west coast by the third quarter of 2010 so that customers have the ability to purchase dedicated or virtual servers in different geographical locations, says Soendker.

The company says the new facility is expected to be online January 1, 2010 with 1,000 servers ready for immediate delivery.
