According to an announcement on Thursday, Hostway’s legacy webmail product makes up more than one million email accounts. Hostway will also provide Open-Xchange as a hosted, wholesale SaaS platform to enable its resellers to launch and deliver branded cloud services.
Open-Xchange allows upselling within the app, and with this capability partners can easily increase revenue. With the integrated upselling, customers can easily upgrade their Open-Xchange packages and add extra services like security, which gives partners more opportunity to increase revenue per unit, which wasn’t necessarily possible with Hostway’s legacy webmail product.
Open-Xchange also allows users to integrate accounts across multimedia platforms, and facilitate teamwork and group scheduling and sharing.
It seems that Hostway will continue to offer Microsoft Hosted Exchange and Sharepoint to its customers.
“Hostway’s success in the cloud marketplace continues to prove that companies choose providers they can trust to protect their critical and sensitive data,” Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange said in a statement. “Adding Open-Xchange further diversifies Hostway’s cloud portfolio and place in the market. Hostway is a one-stop shop for customers and partners for all their hosted services, let it be infrastructure or applications.”
“Business-class email and collaboration is a killer application for small and mid-sized businesses, and Open-Xchange continues to emerge as a leader in this category,” Todd Benjamin, Hostway’s VP of hosted services said in a statement. “This partnership enables us to upgrade and extend the capabilities of our existing customers, and at the same time reduce the time-to-market and investment required to achieve a carrier class deployment for our distributors and resellers.”
