(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting and cloud hosting services provider Hostway Corporation (www.hostway.com) has partnered with IT automation software developer Stratavia (www.stratavia.com) to launch an enterprise-class database automation solution that simplifies the management of corporate databases, and is provided as a service.
According to Hostway’s Monday announcement, NetDBAs is a unique database automation tool for simplifying and automating routine, time consuming tasks such as installing new databases, administering users, applying patches, and managing backups. A simple and intuitive web-interface lets NetDBAs turn complex work flows into point and click operations that can be performed by any member of an IT organization.
“We are excited to launch this value added solution that will automate and simplify the most time consuming and repetitive tasks typically performed by database administrators,” Hostway enterprise hosting vice president Todd Benjamin said in a statement.” With assistance from Stratavia we have harnessed high-end enterprise-class automation technology, simplified it, and deployed it in the cloud to be cost effective and versatile, solving a prevailing challenge for today’s efficiency minded corporations.”
Database servers may be located in one of Hostway’s global data centers, on-site in the customer’s corporate offices, or in any third party data center. NetDBAs is available anywhere from the Hostway cloud.
The initial release of NetDBAs will manage editions of Microsoft SQL Server database, and support for databases from other manufacturers will be added in future versions.

Last month, Hostway closed a $110 million debt and equity financing deal with a consortium of investors to support its continued growth plan, and position the company as a leader in the quickly growing online services market. The launch of NetDBAs is likely one of several projects to be rolled out as part of its new online services offerings.
