(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Hostway (www.hostway.com) announced on Thursday it has completed the Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70: Service Organizations Type II audit for four of its North American data centers.
The company recently closed a $110 million debt and equity financing deal with a group of investors to support its growth plan.
By completing the SAS 70 Type II audit, Hostway can provide customers with full assurance that it delivers fully secure, reliable, effective operating environments with the proper controls for conducting high availability IT and Internet operations.
Performed by an independent audit firm, SAS 70 Type II consists of detailed independent review and testing of operational controls and supporting processes.
SAS 70 was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for service providers who wish to demonstrate control effectiveness for customers and their independent auditors, and has become one of the most widely recognized auditing standards for service organizations.
Web hosting providers Latisys and Tenzing both recently completed their own SAS 70 Type II audits.
“Our enterprise hosting customers, particularly those who are public companies or operate in regulated sectors such as healthcare or financial services – require independent validation of internal security and controls,” says Todd Benjamin, director of enterprise hosting at Hosway. “The SAS 70 audit process is one component of our overall strategy of providing highly secure, redundant, and reliable hosted infrastructure solutions to leading internet, corporate, and governmental organizations.”
