Web Host Hosting.com Adds to Cloud Solutions Portfolio

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Hosting.com (www.hosting.com) announced on Friday that it has made several enhancements to its Cloud Enterprise environment, in response to customer and market demand, by adding access to high performance storage, greater computing resources and seven additional operating systems.

According to Hosting.com, customers can increase the resources on their virtual machines to 32 GB of ram and 8 virtual CPUs – from 8 GB of ram and 4vCPU – via the company’s web portal. The new operating systems supported include Red Hat Linux and Windows Datacenter 2008 R2.

Customers can also move data to high performance storage on Hosting.com’s EMC SAN, which the company calls “ideal for customers seeking security, functionality and enterprise-class reliability from the latest storage technologies.”

Hosting.com is a VMware partner, and announced in September that it had joined VMware’s vCloud initiative, to provide cloud hosting solutions compatible with some VMware-based internal enterprise deployments.

Last week, the company announced that it had introduced a solution for migrating virtual machines to Hosting.com’s Cloud Enterprise or Cloud Dedicated solutions, either from internal systems or other hosts.

“Our cloud solutions are frequently used to host robust applications, databases and web servers that require additional resources and storage,” says Hosting.com cloud product manager Fred Strelzoff, quoted in the press release. “Increasingly, Hosting.com clients want to migrate their dedicated hosting or colocation solutions into a cloud hosting environment. The support of nine total operating systems eliminates the need to migrate operating systems and makes the migration process less costly and painful.”
