Web host and data center operator Hetzner Online announced on Friday that it now offers colocation services at its Nuremberg and Falkenstein/Vogtland data centers in Germany.
According to Hetzner, it already offers a portfolio of web hosting and server products at the two German facilities, but will extend its offerings to include colocation so customers can house their own server hardware in its data center, taking advantage of its modern infrastructure, including direct free cooling.
The colocation packages start at $272 per month, and include an uninterruptible supply of power, fast Internet connection, security and 24/7 on-site customer service.
The separately secured 19 inch colocation racks offer up to 47 rack height units, according to the press release. Each individual quality rack has up to four power circuits with ten amp loads. All circuits are installed on a redundant basis via A/B line, and the price for power is calculated per rack. Clients with individualized needs can hire 65 square foot cages.
Aside from the deep racks, Hetzner says its clients benefit from energy-efficient cold aisle containment on booking the “Colocation Rack Advanced” offer. The strict separation of warm and cold air areas prevents thermal recirculation, which lowers energy consumption. Hetzner strives to eliminate waste in other areas as well, recently launching a server auction site to sell used servers, saving them from being thrown away before they are fully utilized.
Colocation clients can access the colocation area around the clock via a transponder-controlled secured entrance area, and appointments for visits and access authorization can be set in advance via the administration interface. According to Hetzner, the duration of the visit is monitored from the time of entering the data center to the time of departure with data made available in the administration interface.
