Design Shack partnered with Heart Internet to conduct the web designer survey
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK web hosting provider Heart Internet (www.heartinternet.co.uk) released more findings from its recent survey on web design, and claims the economy has had a profound effect on web designers’ ability to get work.
This news comes a month after Heart Internet announced that half of web designers do not consider mobile web browsers when designing a new website.
The latest results are part of the same study conducted with web design blog Design Shack (www.designshack.co.uk). The companies surveyed 500 UK web designers.
According to the press release, 80 percent of web designers say that web design work is more difficult or just as difficult to come by compared to 12 months ago.
Web designers say this trend has become worse since prices are being forced down. Three out of five respondents say this is because of more competition industry.
“With so many businesses tightening their belts, new websites are often one of the first expenses that are cut from the budget,” Jonathoan Brealey, Heart Interent director said in a statement. “Our survey results found that web designers are increasingly expanding their range of services to enhance their revenue potential, with 82 percent offering essentials such as copywriting, digital marketing, web hosting and website maintenance in addition to web design.”
Heart Internet says half of web designers are supplementing their income through channels such as premium resource websites, guest blogging and running their own advertising-driven blogs.
The survey also finds that 20 percent of web designers have advertised their services on freelance websites.
