Web Host Go Daddy Joins BizSpark Program

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Domain registrar and web hosting provider GoDaddy (www.godaddy.com) announced on Wednesday it has signed on as a hosting partner in the Microsoft BizSpark program (www.microsoft.com/BizSpark/).

The announcement was made during Microsoft’s keynote address at the MIX09 (2009.visitmix.com) conference for web designers and developers in Las Vegas.

In January, web hosting provider PEER 1 joined the BizSpark program as a network partner.

As part of this new alliance with Microsoft, BizSpark participants can use Go Daddy’s hosting services as part of a network of offerings provided for qualified Internet start-ups.

Launched in November, the BizSpark program is designed to help accelerate the success of early stage start-ups by providing them with software, support and visibility throughout a company’s first three years in operation.

As a BizSpark Hosting Partner, Go Daddy will offer BizSpark members a wide range of applications and services including domain registration, hosting and SSL certificates at a discounted  price.

Go Daddy will be the first Microsoft BizSpark Hosting Partner to provide member start-ups with this combination of services.

Additionally, both these new companies will have 24-hour access to Go Daddy’s personalized customer service.

“Go Daddy is all about doing things easily and affordably,” says Go Daddy CEO and founder Bob Parsons. “That’s why we’ve joined the Microsoft BizSpark program as a hosting partner. It’s just one more way we can provide Internet entrepreneurs a simple, cost effective solution to their registration, hosting and SSL cert needs.”

In the BizSpark program, a start-up can download free Microsoft software for development, test and demonstration purposes and get free access to Microsoft software hosted “production licenses” for up to three years.

In order to be eligable for the BizSpark program, online start-ups must be privately-owned, have been in business less than three years and gross less than $1 million.

In the coming months, both Microsoft BizSpark and Go Daddy will offer more details on how individuals can participate in this partnership on their respective websites.
