(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider FireHost (www.firehost.com) announced on Tuesday it has added a new Security View feature to its customer portal, which allows customers to see blocked attacks against their websites and applications.

The announcement comes a few months after FireHost added two new features to the customer portal, including access to real-time server metrics and the ability to reboot and shutdown or startup servers as needed.

The new feature allows customers to view hacks by specific type, date, and originating region.

Available for free to customers, Security View demonstrates “FireHost’s commitment to total transparency and superior security,” says the company.

“We are so confident in our ability to block cybercrime that we’re opening the curtain and inviting our customers to see how well we protect their websites,” says Chris Drake, CEO and founder of FireHost. “Most companies don’t realize how many hackers attempt to breach their websites and applications on a daily basis. Security View exposes the reality of cybercrime and lets our customers know we’re really looking out for them.”

Security View gives customers the option to see topical information about the blocked attacks, such as the specific kind of attack and its origin.

According to the press release, the increased level of awareness will “help businesses position themselves publicly as security-conscious organizations.”

The company recently joined the PCI Security Standards Council as a “participating organization,” putting it in a position to contribute to the discussion on the development of the PCI Data Security Standard and other security standards.
