(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –Web hosting provider eUKhost announced on Thursday that it now offers R1Soft Continuous Data protection backups and archiving with its shared and reseller hosting plans.

According to eUKhost, R1Soft enables shared and reseller hosting customers to protect their data by backing it up on offsite servers without being charged additional fees.

By integrating CDP within cPanel, users are able to simply manage the backup files and folders and choose between backup file download, bare metal restore and specific files/folder restore.

“Because CDP fits appropriately to our requirements and reduces the overall impact over the disk loads and the time taken for a complete backup, we decided to pass over the benefit to our customers using shared and reseller hosting,” Stanley Jones, business development at eUKhost, said in a statement. “We have used R1Soft CDP3 backup system for other packages such as dedicated hosting, cloud servers and VPS’s and are highly satisfied with its performance, hence we decided to introduce it with our low-end packages as well.”

According to the press release, the new backup system creates restore points and takes a snapshot of the changes done on an individual account which is stored on the server for one week. The oldest instance is overwritten with a latest file, enabling the server to avoid getting overloaded with backup files.

“Prior to implementing this feature, users had to contact our support department or raise a ticket regarding restoration of specific files and folders. Our new system cuts this process entirely, saving precious time of our users as they can carry out the restore on their own and at their convenience,” Jones said in a statement.

Prior to this announcement, eUKhost offered R1Soft CDP 3.0 backup service only with dedicated hosting, cloud servers and VPS on both Windows and Linux.

“We take data protection very seriously and value its protection and availability, hence we are highly pleased to introduce this service across all the web hosting packages,” Robert King, CEO of eUKhost, said in a statement.

R1Soft is located in Houston, where the WHIR is hosting a free networking event on Thursday night. You can still sign up for the event here. R1Soft is a sponsor, and is giving away a Kindle in a draw at the event.
