Web Host EDS Extends Sprint Deal

January 18, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT outsourcing and Web hosting provider EDS (eds.com) announced on Tuesday that it is extending its relationship with Sprint Nextel (sprint.com) with a multi-year information technology services agreement.

The contract extension includes midrange hosting, storage, premise data network support, hardware purchase and project related work.

“By partnering with EDS, Sprint Nextel can focus on leadership in mobility and provide increased value to its customer base,” says Dick LeFave, CIO at Sprint Nextel. “EDS’s commitment to operational excellence and collaboration were key contributing factors in our decision to extend our relationship.”

Over the past four years, EDS has provided Nextel with IT services including desktop, help desk support, local area network support, hardware reseller services, management of midrange computing, as well as call center support for Nextel’s Blackberry service. EDS has also been providing Sprint with application development and maintenance support for the past two years.
