Web host DiscountASP.NET announced on Wednesday that it has renewed its Gold Hosting Competency in the Microsoft Partner Network after completing a more rigorous set of tests than in previous years.

According to the DiscountASP.NET blog, this is the eighth year that it has achieved Gold Hosting Competency, and though it is an investment, DiscountASP.NET says it is worth it in order to differentiate its technology expertise.

Takeshi Eto, VP marketing and business development at DiscountASP.NET, says that Microsoft has raised the bar significantly to attain the Gold level status over the last couple of years. Organizations that achieve Gold level status today must “employ an increased number of Microsoft Certified Professionals who must pass various up-to-date certification exams related to the competency, submit more customer references and demonstrate their commitment to customer satisfaction by participating in an annual survey and score well.” This is also the first year that Microsoft has added a cloud marketing assessment test.

DiscountASP.Net says that the Gold-level partner competency demonstrates its ability to meet Microsoft customer needs with its two types of hosting solutions for .NET developers, including APS.NET web hosting on the latest Windows web stack, and a SaaS solution for source control with Team Foundation Server hosting. Back in September, DiscountASP.Net was one of the first web hosts to offer shared Team Foundation Server hosting. Recently, DiscountASP.NET launched managed TFS 2012 hosting in Europe.

“A gold hosting competency differentiates us from the competition and establishes us as market  leaders, and showcases our expertise in and commitment to Microsoft developers and our deep knowledge of Microsoft products,” Takeshi Eto, VP marketing and business development at DiscountASP.NET said in a statement. “We will continue to innovate and provide next-generation Windows hosting solutions for Microsoft developers and developer teams.”

“The Microsoft Partner Network is designed to empower solution providers to succeed in today’s business environment. By achieving the prestigious gold competency, participating companies are provided with a rich set of benefits, including increased customer visibility and accessibility, training and support,” Jon Roskill, corporate vice president, Worldwide Partner Group at Microsoft Corp said in a statement. “We are proud to put forth a program that provides the resources to help a company develop the expertise customers’ demand in today’s competitive market and also provides the community and infrastructure that can connect them to one another, lowering costs for all parties.”
