(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web application security software firm Applicure Technologies (www.applicure.com) announced on Monday that it had partnered with web hosting provider Datapipe (www.datapipe.com) to launch a hosted solution for defending enterprise sites from hacker attacks.
According to the announcement, the partnership – which appears, more or less, to be a reseller agreement – will enable Datapipe to provide Applicture’s dotDefender web application security solution to mananaged hosting customers, helping to defend their websites from external and internal attacks, including SQL injection and cross-site scripting attacks.
Companies hosting their sites at Datapipe can now add the security solution to their hosting packages, adding to existing security and helping to meet certain compliance requirements. For Applicure, the deal is an opportunity to introduce its product to the substantial customer base of Datapipe.
“With dotDefender as an integral part of the renowned managed hosting solutions offered by Datapipe, a large base of enterprise customers around the world can now easily add this award-winning defense technology,” says Applicure CEO Yaacov Sherban, quoted in the press release. “We are delighted to work with Datapipe’s experienced security team to immediately deliver a solution to the rapidly growing challenge of PCI compliance with enterprise Web applications.”
In the announcement, Applicure points out that web application attacks can appear to be harmless network traffic to many traditional network security products such as firewalls and antivirus applications. Designed specifically to address this type of attack, dotDefender can stop this sort of attack before it reaches the network.
