A chart of Netcraft's top 10 most reliable hosting company sites in January 2011
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web analytics firm Netcraft (www.netcraft.com) reported on Wednesday the results of its most reliable hosting company sites in January 2011, which is lead by Datapipe.
Last month, Swishmail and ServInt took the top positions in the most reliable hosting company sites in December 2010.
Since four of the Web hosts this month saw no failed requests at all to their websites, they are ranked by average connection time.
In the top position is Datapipe, which has made the top ten in ten of the last 12 months, as well as in the top three seven times in the same period.
The hosting provider offers a range of services including colocation, cloud computing and hosted servers out of its data centers in the US, the UK and China.
IWeb Technologies, which provides shared hosting, managed hosting and dedicated servers, came in second. The company has also been in the top ten several times over the last year.
In third is www.codero.com, a division of aplus.net that began in July 2009. The Web host offers dedicated and managed hosting services designed for small businesses.
Rounding out the rest of the top 10 list is Multacom, INetU, Kattare Internet Services, www.cwcs.co.uk, New York Internet, Swishmail and Rackspace.
Linux and FreeBSD were the most used operating systems by the top ten hosting companies this month, with each os claiming four companies a piece. Meanwhile, one hosting company was operating on F5 Big-IP.
Every month, Netcraft measures and posts the response times of about 40 leading hosting providers’ sites.
The Web analytics firm calculates the average performances taken at 15 minute intervals from separate points around the Internet over a 24 hour period.
