Web hosting provider Connectria announced on Thursday that its IBM AIX cloud hosting is now available. This announcement comes a month after it launched its IBM i Cloud, both cloud solutions running on IBM Power Systems Servers.

Connectria’s IBM AIX cloud with managed services starts at $1245 per month, and can scale upward from 1/10 core with a 3 GHz processor.

Though Connectria has been providing IBM AIX environments for more than ten years, this is the launch of its IBM AIX hosting in the cloud. It continues to offer IBM AIX dedicated server managed hosting.

Connectria’s IBM-focused offering is different from what the majority of cloud hosting providers are doing, and offering something as focused as this can help position a web host as an expert in a particular area. Connectria is a subcontractor to IBM Global Services for some of its largest outsourcing customers, according to its website, and has won three IBM Beacon Awards as a top worldwide partner.

Connectria president and CEO Rich Waidmann says that it is committed to providing cloud hosting solutions for a wide range of customers and environments, not limited to Windows and Linux. In additon to IBM AIX and i Cloud, Connectria also supports Oracle/Sun Solaris.

“We’re very pleased to announce the availability of Connectria’s IBM AIX cloud hosting,” Connectria president and CEO Rich Waidmann said in a statement. “IBM’s Power Systems line and AIX continue to capture market share, and we believe Connectria’s IBM AIX Cloud will be an excellent alternative to purchasing an IBM AIX Server and running it yourself.”

Customers can purchase IBM AIX capacity on-demand and access 24/7 support as needed.

Connectria says its IBM AIX cloud supports development and production environments and features virtual machines running on a POWER7 System, and customers can add processor, memory or disk capacity to any VM as needed.

At the beginning of April, Connectria announced its plans to expand business in Brazil and Argentina.
