(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Codero (www.codero.com) has been working to restore its service for customers after one of the company’s upstream Internet providers was hit with a distributed denial of service attack early Tuesday morning, according to a report by CNET.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. PST Tuesday, Codero updated its Twitter page with this message:

“Upstream provider in PHX working to restore a BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) session they dropped and to mitigate a DDoS attack. Phone service is disrupted.”

Then just a short period after, the company said it was “experiencing network issues affecting part of [its] PHX data center,” and that “engineers are working with upstream providers.”

“Another attempt is now underway at routing traffic to specific segments of our network,” Codero tweeted around 9:30 a.m. PST.

The company is unsure as to how many sites were affected by the DDoS attack, but it could potentially impact any of its points of presence in Irvine, Denver, Chicago, and Ashburn, as well as at the migration of a data center from San Diego to Phoenix.

Codero seemed fairly optimistic in its most recent post, reassuring users that it was close to restoring service back to normal.

“CoderoNOC Network engineers are in final steps to bring back revised routing tables which will restore service to nearly all servers in PHX,” tweeted at 10:47 a.m. PST.
