Web Host C I Host Upgrades Data Centers

October 24, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider C I Host (cihost.com) announced last week that it had upgraded the power systems at its Dallas and Chicago data center facilities.

At the Chicago facility, the power distribution units have been raised from 20 to 30 amp circuits, enabling the system to better accommodate power spikes or failed power supplies. At the Dallas facility, core switching gear was replaced, transformers were upgraded and an additional transformer from a diverse grid for further power expansion was set.

Neutral current eliminators have also been installed, making servers less likely to overheat, and a cellular power monitoring systems notifies engineers of power panel problems.

“Each of these upgrades will give our customers a higher level of security, knowing that their mission-critical data is secure, their Web site will be functioning 24-7 and their online-related businesses won’t be interrupted,” says Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. “The NCEs in particular give our customers a new free benefit – less wear and tear on computer equipment and fewer hardware failures.”

The upgrades cost $50,000 for the Chicago facility and $800,000 for Dallas.
