(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Australian web hosting provider Bulletproof Networks (www.bulletproof.net) announced last week that it had appointed hosting industry veteran Klaus Bartosch as a strategic advisor to its board and management team.
Bartosch was director of sales and marketing at Hostworks, a leading Australian hosting provider that was ultimately acquired by Broadcast Australia in 2007, for $68.9 million.
According to Bulletproof, Bartosch led a team at Hostworks that tripled the company’s revenues in five years, a fact that appealed Bulletproof’s plans to improve on its own record of 24 percent growth in 2008 and almost 50 percent in 2009.
Bartosch will provide Bulletproof with advise on how to grow the business in the short term.
“We know we have the right product that truly is „bulletproof, and more cost-effective than competitors,” says Bulletproof CEO Anthony Woodward, quoted in the press release. “Our challenge is getting the word out, and connecting with the right fast-growth businesses and boardrooms across Australia that need an ethical, competent and responsive hosting provider. These attributes set us apart from the other larger providers and we’ll benefit significantly from Klaus’s extensive knowledge of the industry and access to the right decision makers.”
Since leaving Hostworks earlier in 2009, says the announcement, Bartosch has ben providing consulting for a variety of Australian companies, helping to drive growth. He says he sees a specific opportunity at Hostworks.
“There’s a gap in the market for a cost-effective, competent provider of hosting to firms spending from $5000 to $25,000 on hosting per month. This is a market segment [where] Bulletproof already has a proven track record of service excellence and is well positioned to dominate. Currently, customer options for a reliable hosting provider in Australia are quite limited. Many are stuck with providers whose quality of service and ethics leave a lot to be desired, where they experience constant outages resulting in business loss and anger.”
In April of this year, we reported that Hostworks founder Marty Gauvin had left the company to pursue other opportunities, well after the closing of the sale, which was finalized in early 2008.
