(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Applied Innovations announced over the weekend that WebsitePanel control panel now integrated with Microsoft Dynamic data center toolkit is now available.
According to the press release, WebsitePanel is an Open Source control panel for Windows hosting. Formerly known as DotNetPanel, WebsitePanel was released as an open source project in April 2010. The latest version of WebsitePanel was released in July.
The Dynamic Data Center Toolkit is the framework upon which Hyper-V cloud was built, according to the press release, and is a collection of resources to help hosts build managed services to create a virtualized infrastructure system. AppliedI says its customers can create new virtual machines and manage them from the WebsitePanel interface with this integration.
“Over the past year we’ve been working on integrating AppliedI’s Hyper-V Cloud Server platform with the WebsitePanel control panel,” Jess Coburn, president and CEO of Applied Innovations Corp said in a statement. “Today, only the most vital information and functionality is exposed, but over time we’ll be extending this platform further and integrating more services, more offerings and more control.”
AppliedI says that through leveraging an open source platform, it will be able to integrate the community development efforts with its own efforts to deliver something unique.
“For example, Applied Innovations was among the first providers to go to market with WebMatrix hosting. This was accomplished because we were able to take the Open Source WebsitePanel project to enable it for that functionality instead of waiting months for a third party provider to deliver this functionality,” Coburn stated. “In the same way, we have taken WebsitePanel and integrated it with our Hyper-V Cloud Server environment. So we can now offer our clients the ability to spin up new machines and manage those machines from within the WebsitePanel interface.”
Applied Innovations was among one of two web hosting providers selected by Microsoft to help develop the Dynamic Datacenter Toolkit, according to the press release. AppliedI achieved Gold level partner certification in Microsoft’s partner program five years ago.
