Agilisys appointed Cotterell to head its cloud services
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT services provider Agilisys (www.agilisys.co.uk) announced on Monday that it has expanded its cloud services offering by launching Agilisys Cloud Services, a managed IaaS that provides a suite of cloud services in its UK data centers.
Agilisys says that it has identified a gap in the market for IaaS products for organizations new to the cloud. The company claims that its managed IaaS service is suited towards businesses that perceive self-service, commodity-based IaaS services as difficult to manage. Agilisys will offer consultancy services as well to support this type of customer.
According to the press release, Agilysis’ managed IaaS includes services like the Cloud Readiness Check, which helps businesses and public sector organizations determine the benefits of moving to the cloud for their organization. The readiness check examines people, processes, architecture and alignment with business goals.
The cloud services will initially include routine operations tasks like system backup, monitoring and capacity management, public or private cloud provision, hosted solutions such as colocation, test and development environments, multi-tenant cloud apps provision, SaaS and centralized telephony, according to Agilisys.
In addition to this service launch, Agilisys appointed managing director David Cotterell to lead to new cloud services division.
Prior to Agilisys, Cotterell spent nine years with software testing firm SQS, including five years as a main board director. At SQS he was responsible for expansion in the UK, Ireland and South Africa.
“Cloud is seen as a major growth area for Agilisys and given David’s background of successfully building IT businesses we are delighted he is taking this leadership role,” Kay Andrews, Agilisys CEO said in a statement. “The cloud market is still relatively immature, but the services are evolving rapidly and are swiftly changing the vendor landscape – as a proven services vendor, Agilisys is determined to play its full part. We already have several best-in-class data centres supporting the public sector and this proven platform is underpinning Agilisys Cloud Services for the private sector.”
