(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet (www.1and1.co.uk) announced on Thursday that it has upgraded its website builder 1&1 MyWebsite, formerly 1&1 MyBusiness Site. The new features include mobile optimization and a social media interface.

According to the press release, the new features enable website owners to adapt their websites easily to mobile browsers. The feature identifies which mobile device is accessing the web page and automatically customizes the page.

The company says that 1&1 MyWebsite can be linked to Facebook and Twitter so website owners can connect their socail media presence with their company website.

According to 1&1, this new social media interface offers the ability to include recommendations for other social websites in their homepage and add a follow me or like button.

1&1 says that smartphone optimization functionality will be included for free in its 1&1 MyWebsite Plus and Premium packages. The social media interface is available in all MyWebsite packages. Both features are available for free for existing customer websites.

1&1 MyWebsite offers templates for different industries for more than 120 business types. The small-sized business is the most suited to the tool, especially those without much web experience.

There are also 30 new layouts added to the Plus and Premium packages. The packages include 1 domain, 200 email addresses and unlimited web space and data traffic.

A recent study by UK web hosting provider Heart Internet found that more than half of web designers forget about the mobile browsing experience when designing new websites.
