(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web host 1&1 Internet (www.1and1.com) announced on Wednesday that it is offering additional storage space for its 1&1 Online Office, enabling small businesses to manage important data more effectively.
This announcement comes three weeks after the company’s release of its new range of dedicated servers.
For each email account created within 1&1′s email, shared hosting and server packages, an Online Office account is included for free. The browser-based suite contains text, presentation and spreadsheet programs compatible with other common office formats.
Each 1&1 Online Office account comes with a default online storage of 2GB, but now customers can order more capacity easily.
1&1 Internet says that once the additional storage is purchased, it is accessible instantly. This scalibility and flexibility enables businesses to adjust storage at any time, without planning for storage capacity requirements in advance.
The new service offers up to 1TB of additonal storage, and is ideal as a long-term file archive, for data backup and for collaboration on current projects.
Through the user-friendly upload tool with drag and drop functionality, 1&1 says all file formats can be integrated into the cloud efficiently.
1&1 Online Office allows employees to access important documents at any time, from anywhere. With the ability to access latest file versions, there is no need for critical business data to be distributed through email.
In September, 1&1 launched its free professional Web design software with its hosting package. The offering enables small businesses to optimize their website for mobile browsing, according to 1&1 Internet chief executive officer Oliver Mauss.
