(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Web host 1&1 Internet (www.1and1.com) announced on Monday that it has developed a new application for businesses to access documents from a mobile phone.

1&1 Internet launched two new versions of its business website building and hosting tools at the end of March.

According to the press release, the new 1&1 Online Storage app enables business owners to edit and manage documents while traveling or between meetings.

To use the application, users are required to have a 1&1 Online Office account which is included for free with most 1&1 hosting packages.

The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad or iPod touch devices and mobile phones with the Android operating system.

“With the increased demand for mobile Web connections, 1&1 has been working hard to provide our customers with the tools necessary to manage their business from any type of internet connection,” Oliver Mauss, CEO of 1&1 Internet Inc said in a statement. “Mobile applications have become a dominant force in communication and information management and we welcome the challenge to continue providing customers with tools that support their efforts to effectively conduct business on the go.”

1&1 Online Storage app can be accessed through the AppStore or Android Market with the users 1&1 login information.

The app supports DOC, XLS, PDF, PPT, JPG and more file formats. Documents can be viewed, edited, filed and saved directly from a mobile device.

1&1 says each account is provided with 2 GB of free space. Additional space can be purchased.

All data is stored on 1&1′s servers located in its Lenexa, Kansas data center.
