(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Four months after the UK2 Group (www.uk2group.com) beta launched its unique virtual private server offering, VPS.NET (www.vps.net), it has released a VPS cloud API, giving users and resellers the ability to manage all aspects of the VPS.NET Elastic Cloud offering including the deployment of added resources and scheduling for bursts of resources.
According to UK2 Group’s announcement this week, the API currently uses a PHP client, but further versions in Ruby, Perl and .NET are planned. VPS.NET beta launched in February, offering immediate scalability with its node-based VPS architecture, a simple billing process and user-friendly management portal.
“With the VPS.NET API anybody can provide elastic, cloud-based VPS services. This opens a door for resellers to enter a market that until now was cost prohibitive for them,” UK2 Group chief executive officer Ditlev Bredahl said in a statement. “We continue our mission to bring the cloud to the masses.”
VPS.NET’s VPS system lets customers buy a number of nodes, each providing 256MB RAM, 10GB SAN storage, 400MHz dedicated CPU and 250GB of bandwidth per month. With the sale of more than 1,000 nodes in its first month out of beta alone, VPS.NET’s unique approach to selling node-based cloud resources for VPS server deployment has met UK2′s high expectations for the product.
