(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web host and domain name provider VoxDomains.com (www.voxdomains.com) is now offering grid computing-based Web hosting for all US plans, offering the performance and redundancy of clustered servers at the same price as traditional shared hosting.
According to VoxDomains’ Friday announcement, it now features a clustered grid architecture instead of single servers to host websites, resulting in more available resources, and to accommodate greater traffic and processing loads. Multiple servers also increase redundancy with other servers taking over if a server goes down.
VoxDomains’s switch to grid computing comes without any change in pricing nor hidden fees. Additionally, the end-user experience has remained unchanged. Its Hosting Control Center and Hosting Connection management consoles are still available at no added cost, and the customer interface remains the same.
While many hosting providers have moved over to computing solutions that abstract computing resources across several physical servers, VoxDomains’s approach, which emphasizes a common user experience, could be a route worth considering for hosts still offering traditional hosting.
There were, however, some features that did not carry over to the grid environment including Java, ColdFusion, FrontPage, and Access database support. Customers that need one of these exceptions can still order a traditional hosting plan which supports them.
