According to reports, Voicenet and Omni claim investigators violated their rights and the rights of subscribers to Quickvue who have never used the tool to acquire illegal pornography. Lawyers for the two companies say prosecutors have ignored federal law that protects Internet services providers from criminal liability when their equipment and services are being used to view to distribute or acquire illegal pornography. Voicenet said it did not know its search tool was being used for illegal purposes.
