January 21, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Digital broadcasting solution provider VitalStream Holdings Inc. (VitalStream.com) announced on Tuesday that it has completed the acquisition of key assets of Epoch Networks Inc. and Epoch Hosting Inc.

Under the terms of the agreement, first announced on November 4, 2002, VitalStream has acquired a telco-grade data center, related networking equipment and agreements with over 1,000 customers.

VitalStream says it will integrate Epoch’s Los Angeles data center into its content delivery network, and will enhance the facility with advanced digital broadcasting capabilities. Epoch originally put a multi-million-dollar investment into the building of the facility, located in a former bank building.

The 14,000 square foot data center, says VitalStream, will provide customers with a safe and reliable environment from which to deliver media content. The facility is equipped with multiple layers of physical security, uninterrupted power supply, emergency power generators, and redundant environmental controls.

“The completion of this acquisition has accelerated VitalStream’s strategic business plan to expand its CDN and customer-base while achieving significant savings in capital and time,” said Paul Summers, VitalStream’s chief executive officer. “We are continuing to make significant progress toward our goal of achieving positive EBITDA.”
