Vertafore To Move IT Infrastructure to Savvis' Data Center in Fort Worth

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In an effort to offer greater capacity to customers and better manage its Software-as-a-Service offerings, Vertafore (www.vertafore.com), which provides IT solutions to the insurance industry, has announced plans to move its largest data center to Savvis’ (www.savvis.net) state-of-the-art hosting facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to its Tuesday announcement, Vertafore will continue to manage its SaaS-based products internally, while global managed and outsourced IT services provider Savvis operates Vertafore’s scale-related IT infrastructure. Vertafore’s products will continue to run on company equipment managed by Vertafore employees.

“The new data center will give our customers faster results and greater peace of mind,” Vertafore chief information officer Darryl Lemecha said in a statement. “Savvis’ facility allows us to better accommodate the rapid growth of our SaaS offerings, and our customers will benefit both from Savvis’ dedication to data center infrastructure and from continued product innovation from Vertafore. This move will allow us to focus on what we do best: creating, delivering and supporting our suite of industry-leading products.”

By co-locating its hosting services in the Savvis facility, Vertafore will significantly increase its network performance through greater bandwidth and connectivity. Additionally, the facility is highly secure and redundant, offering 24/7 surveillance and generators to ensure uninterrupted availability of Vertafore’s hosted solutions.

“Savvis’ experience in providing a full range of hosting and SaaS services makes us uniquely qualified to support Vertafore as its needs grow and change,” Savvis chief technology officer Bryan Doerr said in a statement. “We are excited to support such a fast-growing company and help it benefit from new services that will help transform its business.”

Scheduled for completion by May 2010, the move will be seamless due to the use of remote data replication and duplicate hardware, resulting in no customers disruptions.

In addition to operating 28 data centers worldwide encompassing more than 1.4 million square feet, Savvis has been active in the virtual infrastructure space. Earlier in the month, it unveiled a new cloud infrastructure platform, “Project Spirit.” Scheduled for release next year, Project Spirit offers enterprises customers what Savvis calls the industry’s first complete private data center virtualization solution.
