(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — With the addition of a new, dynamic bandwidth solution, Verizon Business (www.verizonbusiness.com) Ethernet Virtual Private Line and Private IP customers now have broader control over network speed and capacity, offering the low cost and simplicity of Ethernet, as well as the flexibility of self-provisioned network capacity that can accommodate surges in application-bandwidth.
Available now to US businesses and government agencies using Verizon’s fiber-based network service, EVPL Dynamic Bandwidth makes Verizon the first tier one provider to standardize a self-service bandwidth solution of this kind, according to the company’s Wednesday announcement. Verizon EVPL Dynamic Bandwidth is especially helpful to large enterprises and mid-market customers such as tax preparers, retailers and insurance companies, who have seasonal requirements and intermittent bandwidth demands.
“More than ever, customers are looking for reliable, secure, cost-effective and flexible networking solutions,” Verizon global networking solutions vice president Tom Roche said in a statement. “Our new dynamic bandwidth capability delivers additional speed and capacity to meet customer requirements — at reasonable pricing to accommodate stressed IT budgets.”
EVPL Dynamic Bandwidth can be deployed within an hour using the Verizon Enterprise Center portal, Verizon’s one-stop resource for managing its services. EVPL users then have desktop control over a self-service portal that allows for dynamic bandwidth provisioning and reporting.
Dynamic Bandwidth and automated monitoring features are part of Verizon’s Application Aware suite of tools, which provide greater network visibility and management capabilities, including on-demand bandwidth changes based on customer needs, customized reports to indicate bandwidth usage.
Verizon Business worldwide sales president Blair Crump said that as enterprises more widely adopt technologies such as online video, the “insatiable hunger for bandwidth” grows. “Our self-service dynamic bandwidth capability allows our EVPL and Private IP customers to make the most of their networks, at their convenience,” Crump said in a statement.
