Verizon Business Building Second Data Center in Hong Kong

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications provider Verizon Business (www.verizonbusiness.com) announced on Tuesday it will build its second data center in Hong Kong.

The company previously announced this week its plans for a 30,000 square foot data center in Lubbock, Texas.

The 9,842 square feet data center, which represents part of the $17 billion Verizon Communications will invest in 2010, will strengthen its Asia-Pacific network infrastructure.

The new facility will be located in the iTech Tower in Tsuen Wan,

“Our latest Hong Kong center is strategically located at the gateway to mainland China and is especially important to our clients who want to expand business into greater China and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region,” says Yali Liu, director of network planning for Verizon in Asia-Pacific. “The new data center will pave the way for Verizon to offer next-generation computing services to enterprise clients in Asia as well as colocation, networking or other consulting services.”

The data center will contain a new Private IP node to extend the company’s metro network footprint, which provides direct access to Verizon’s MPLS flagship offering, Private IP. Additionally, the facility will also contain a public IP node.

The new Hong Kong data center will allow Verizon to provide next-generation computing services to enterprise clients in Asia, in particular enhancing delivery of the company’s on-demand global computing solution, CaaS, in region.

The data center will provide a range of services for multinational customers looking to colocate, as well as onsite technical support services, automated server monitoring and remediation service, remote backup and restore services, onsite media storage management and help desk services.
