VeriSign Partners For Managed Security

January 19, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet and telecommunications security firm VeriSign (verisign.com) announced on Tuesday that it had partnered with managed service provider Vanguard Managed Solutions (vanguardms.com) to deliver a new managed security service aimed at the retail market.

VeriSign says the solution will be supported by its Managed Firewall Services and VanguardMS’s Managed IT Infrastructure Services. VanguardMS customers will have access to VeriSign’s extended portfolio of managed security services.

“As retailers continue to automate their business processes, they need to continuously improve the speed with which they can share information between remote sites and corporate headquarters, as well as with vendors and distributors,” said Chris Babel, vice president, managed security services, VeriSign. “Retailers have recognized the benefit of a managed service to help protect their businesses against the corresponding risks of increased access to their networks.”

According to the companies, the managed security service will offer retail customers device management, troubleshooting and Web portal access, while maintaining a seamless customer interface.
