Verio Offers Partner Stimulus Package

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Verio (www.verio.com) announced Monday at its partner conference in Reston, Virginia, that it has launched a “stimulus package” for participants in its viaVerio partner program.

While the package doesn’t seem to include the generous offering up of cash that defines the US government stimulus package this Verio offering is presumably referencing, it is a set of services designed “to help partners grow their businesses and secure new customers.”

The offering is a set of tools and resources to help partners acquire new customers and better deal with existing customers. It includes access to pre-qualified customer leads, which the partner would close and then profit from for the life of the customer relationship. It offers assistance to partners migrating to Verio’s reseller platform. It provides access to the viaVerio sales team, a dedicated marketing resource consisting of teams of sales reps and channel account managers, and the viaMail sales tool for creating direct mail marketing campaigns.

The stimulus package coincides with the new-sounding discussion of the fact that Verio intends to transition from a 50/50 split between direct sales and indirect channel sales at the end of 2008 to a 90 percent indirect model by the end of 2009.

In a presentation Monday morning, Verio marketing VP announced that indirect channels would be the company’s primiary distribution mechanism by April 1, 2009.

“We are committed to the success of our partners and believe the program incentives offered through our stimulus package will deliver much needed resources and provide a bit of relief in this current economic climate,” says senior director of channel sales, Scott Calvert, quoted in the press release. “In addition, our partners can rest assured knowing they are working with a hosting provider that is stable, reliable and financially sound and offering the best margins in the industry. The investments we continue to make in our viaVerio partner program is truly a differentiator for us and is unmatched by the other hosting providers in the industry.”

Verio is currently holding its viaVerio Partner Conference (Monday and Tuesday) in Reston, Virginia. So more information about the company’s new partner-focused motivations will more than likely be revealed during the program.
