The Subaru World Rally Team site will feature team news, rally news and images from throughout the World Rally Championship, which begins in Monte Carlo on January 21, 2005 and tours through an additional 15 countries on four continents, until concluding in Australia on November 13, 2005. Visited by an estimated 160,000 fans during each rally, the site is visited by over 2.5 million people throughout the championships and has a subscribed fan base of 50,000 members.

Verio Europe will deliver content in real time for the site with its Verio Smart Content Delivery service, which provides numerous content delivery services, enabling event sites with peaks in Internet traffic to distribute content more effectively and efficiently. Using the SCD solution, site content is cached and distributed on multiple SCD servers located in the US, Europe and Asia, while bandwidth is provided via high-speed connections as needed.

“During live stages of the rally, the site is updated every 30 seconds with information from the leader-board including weather conditions, driver sound-bites, accidents, technical bulletins and an insight into each driver’s performance,” says Colin Clark, SWRT commercial manager. “We needed a technical partner whose solution would be specifically built around high peaks of traffic followed by troughs, Verio’s solution is an exact fit for us.”
