Verio Europe launched its Linux-based shared hosting solution with SimpleScripts
NTT Communications subsidiary and web host Verio Europe announced on Monday that it has launched its Linux-based shared hosting solution aimed at freelancers and small businesses.
According to Verio, the new shared hosting solution replaces its current FreeBSD-based solution, and is 15 percent less expensive than Unix hosting. Verio said its existing customers can switch to Linux hosting without paying a set up fee.
The new shared hosting packages are available in four different levels, starting at $11.09 per month for the Linux Starter package. The other packages – Linux Designer, Linux Business, and Linux Commerce – range from $24.90 per month to $55.59 per month.
All of the shared hosting packages include SimpleScripts, the one-click installer. For small businesses, being able to install photo galleries, blogs or forums with one-click helps them easily build out their websites without much intervention, though Verio offers live chat support through a recent partnership with LiveChime.
Go Daddy is another web host that targets small business customers, and has seen great success with its proprietary app installer called Hosting Connection, installing more than two million WordPress websites through the installer.
The Linux Starter version enables the Lazarus guest book, Gregarius RSS reader, the Pligg social networking platform or the interactive WebCalendar to be installed in one-click.
The Linux Commerce package – the largest of the four Verio shared hosting versions with 50 GB disk space – offers one-click install of e-commerce applications including CubeCart, Zen Cart, OpenCart, and TomatoCart.
“We’re fully convinced that our new range is especially attractive due to the excellent value it represents. Users need to consider one thing in particular when deciding on a web hosting contract: In addition to price, it is necessary to carefully review the range of the features on offer,” Ingo Bümmerstede, hosting group and customer service manager at Verio said in a statement. “This applies not only to the basic service features like available disk space or maximum data transfer per month, but also to the number and attractiveness of software solutions, which should be easy to install. Only by doing so the customer will be able to save time and money over the long term. With the integration of SimpleScripts, we’ve created a range of extremely attractive hosting packages for our users.”

We make one another experience we switch from Linux to FreeBSD. With FreeBSD we drop down the costs, by using FreeBSD Jails (is like Solaris Zones). Another Server providers have one similar expierence.
No one in their right mind would use any type of BSD as very backward, incapable of performing modern task requirements of a server and uses are vulnerable to legal comflicts with Apple and Microsoft.
You and your group of server admins are completely out of your minds and should not have been in charge of any machines.
