Verio Re-organizes Hosting Partner Programs

By theWHIR.com , October 01, 2003

October 1, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Verio (verio.com) today unveiled a channel reorganization initiative that will combine the company's separate partner programs serving the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and large mid-market to enterprise segments under the viaVerio name.

Prior to the reorganization, the viaVerio Channel Program served resellers in the SME hosting space, and the company's enterprise hosting resellers and partners were part of the Verio Business Partner Program.

The company expanded its Verio Business Partner Program to Europe in July.

"Verio has always been a channel-centric organization, with the vast majority of our sales being driven by our business partners. As we've said many times before, our channel strategy is our business strategy, and this move definitively reflects that continued focus," said Craig Schlagbaum, vice president of enterprise hosting and access channel sales at Verio. "By integrating our various channel programs under one umbrella brand, we're offering a more seamless and straightforward program, tailored to the specific needs of our diverse range of business partners."

The Colorado-based company said the newly integrated viaVerio program provides SME resellers and larger channel partners with access to a variety of hosting services including Web hosting on dedicated, shared, virtual private server or managed private server platforms, domain name registration and e-commerce solutions.

The new program will also offer volume discounts, private label opportunities, and technical, sales and marketing support to its participants.

In conjunction with the announcement, Verio also launched a new incentive program. Under the program, new and current channel partners will receive cash incentives to sell their solutions under the viaVerio Channel Program. The promotion runs from today until December 31, 2003.

October 2009 - Web Hosting's All Star Team
This has been, for us, one of the most interesting, exciting and challenging build-ups to an issue of the magazine yet, Web Hosting's All Star Team. The balloting process was our first experiment with a kind of user participation we're planning to do a lot more with in the months to come. We had thousands of ballots submitted, with hundreds of write-in suggestions and a demonstration of user engagement that has us feeling super positive about the project.

July 2009 - What am I Worth?
One of the interesting luxuries of working on a project like the printed WHIR magazine is that it allows us to play with things like our point of view from one issue to the next. In recent months we've been giving added attention to the kind of practical and applicable advice aimed at smaller hosts and resellers. This issue carries on with that point of view, asking, in our cover story, "what am I worth?" It's a complicated question without a clear-cut answer.

May 2009 - The Blueprint for a Small Web Host
I was a little surprised by how difficult it became to see this idea through. We set out to assemble a blueprint for a small hosting business, but butted up pretty quickly against the general impossibility of covering all the territory that was out there to be covered. The basic constraints of a printed magazine, and the less-than-infinite amount of time we had available forced us to face the fact that we could never produce an exhaustive guide to starting a hosting company.
