(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –- Wholesale data center operator Vantage Data Centers (www.vantagedatacenters.com) announced on Wednesday that it has started construction on its V2 Santa Clara data center.
In addition, Vantage also launched the Apollo Innovation Initiative, a data center development framework that integrates design, project development and program management process led by experts.
Last month Vantage announced that it will be hosting the “Smart Data Center Revolution” at its Santa Clara data center campus on April 22.
According to the press release, V2 is the second building within its Vantage Santa Clara Campus and will offer data center modules designed to scale the facility from 9 to 19 MWs, enabling more power without service disruption or additional construction.
Vantage’s Apollo Initiative enables the company to build efficient data centers “at a fraction of the risk and time normally associated with current practices in the data center industry.”
The initiative combines resources and technologies from industry experts to create a set of customizable products and services to be replicated at vantage campuses worldwide.
“The typical data center operator doesn’t focus primarily on the business needs of the Enterprise IT Units or on creating a means for IT departments to positively contribute to the bottom line,” Jim Trout, CEO of Vantage Data Centers said in a statement. “Most data centers are built with the mentality of a real estate landlord. At Vantage we see ourselves as a partner helping IT organizations deal with the most expensive investments in its budget. We listened intently to customer needs and launched the industry’s most advanced data center model: a campus of multiple data centers enabling IT organizations to identify savings, scale to meet corporate needs, and create efficiencies.”
The company says V2 uses design philosophies similar to the Open Compute Project specifications.
“Creating a highly efficient, scalable, and flexible data center requires an investment existing data centers have been unwilling to make,” Trout added. “Vantage is committed to incorporating the latest technologies and the most energy-efficient and environmentally sound products and practices into our buildings created in the best locations possible. Unlike other wholesale data center providers, we’re able to pass on the benefits of these operating expense reductions to our customers.”
