A chart from the ValueReseller site illustrating the two new plans
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Reseller web hosting provider ValueReseller (www.valuereseller.com) announced on Tuesday that it has launched its reseller cloud, an offering designed to give web hosts, hosting resellers and web developers the means to offer their customers a VMware-based cloud hosting product under their own brand.
According to ValueReseller, its two new reseller billing plans offer a low-cost entry into the cloud hosting market, starting with a $9.95-per-month “Pay As You Go” plan, which allows resellers to add sites to the cloud hosting environment, paying for the resources they use, as well as a “All You Can Eat” plan, which offers unlimited data storage space and data transfer.
ValueReseller says the second plan is popular among small web hosting companies, VARs and SaaS providers who offer hosting as an add-on to other services.
Each version of the service offers a “100 percent infrastructure uptime” SLA, says the company.
With the public understanding of cloud computing growing, and the market for cloud hosting services exploding as a result, many smaller hosting providers are looking for opportunities to offer cloud services to their customers, whether that means building something in-house, or reselling something already built.
At this point, there really aren’t that many cloud offerings built with resellers in mind, though the more cloud-based functions of ValueReseller’s new plans seem more intended to benefit the reseller than the end customer, and unlikely to make too much difference in the kinds of services those hosts offer their end users. It appears to be more about acquiring new resources as you add new customers than it is about providing those customers with an alternative to Amazon’s EC2.
“Hosting websites on the ValueReseller Cloud allows resellers to guarantee their client’s maximum uptime through our highly available virtualized environment,” says Tom Mulkern, senior VP of marketing at ValueReseller, quoted in the press release. “Resellers can automatically charge their clients for resources and create unlimited domains on our cloud platform through an easy to use control panel. In addition, the system features full hosting automation, so resellers can automate everything from customer signup to billing to adding additional resources and services.”
Along with the its cloud hosting, ValueReseller says it is offering a range of other cloud-supported services, including online backup and disaster recovery and e-commerce, as well as Managed Hosting.
