(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center research organization Uptime Institute (www.uptimeinstitute.org) announced on Thursday it has named senior technology editor Matt Stansberry as the organization’s director of content and publications.
He will focus on the development of research-driven publications and programming by tapping into the Institute’s expert leadership, the Site Uptime Networks, and industry-at-large.
Uptime Institute is an unbiased, third-party data center research, education and consulting organization focused on improving data center performance and efficiency.
“We are thrilled to welcome Matt to our team to further enhance the Institute’s contributions to the data center industry,” says Julian Kudritzki, vice president of Uptime Institute. “Matt’s knowledge and passion for the betterment of the data center industry, combined with the unique expertise and end-user-focus that defines the Uptime Institute, creates a unique opportunity to develop unbiased, actionable resources for data center owners and operators. We look forward to working with Matt to develop this content and share it with the community.”
In his new role, Stansberry will be responsible for driving thought leadership initiatives to address key industry issues.
According to the press release, these projects will be “collaborative in nature, grounded in the real-life experience of network members as well as the industry-at-large.”
Additionally, Stansberry will expand the Uptime Institute’s outreach to other industry organizations and assist in developing content for events, such as the Uptime Institute Symposium, and a new series of multimedia presentations on industry topics.
He has reported on the convergence of technology, facility management, and energy issues in the data center since 2003.
He joined Tech Target in 2005 to launch SearchDataCenter.com, and has managed that site and multiple other Tech Target properties in the company’s data center media group. He also published an eBook titled The Green Data Center: Energy Efficient Computing for the 21st Century.
Most recently, he was editorial director of Tech Target’s data center and server virtualization publications. Before joining Tech Target, he was the managing editor of Today’s Facility Manager and a staff writer for the US Green Building Council.
The Green Grid, another organization that strives to improve data center performance and energy efficiency, announced its own appointment Thursday, where it named Mark Monroe to executive director after Larry Vertal stepped down from the position.
