UltraDNS Enhances DNS Infrastructure

October 7, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UltraDNS (ultradns.com), a provider of managed DNS services, announced on Wednesday that it is in the process of enhancing its network infrastructure, adding new levels of redundancy and security and providing top-level domain customers with improved service levels.

The new network design, scheduled to become operational in November, will deploy a dedicated network of name servers to support the company’s TLD customers. This separate infrastructure, the company said, will add additional redundancy and scalability, improving the experiences of end users querying TLDs residing on the UltraDNS global network. UltraDNS said both infrastructures support real-time updates of DNS changes, which the company introduced five years ago.

A second phase of the network enhancement will increase the number of IP addresses and hostnames announced as part of the UltraDNS “anycast” routing pool.

“Given the substantial growth we have experienced in the TLD sector, UltraDNS is investing in the stability of the Internet by deploying a network specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of the TLD community,” says Rodney Joffe, chairman and CTO at UltraDNS. “Our TLD customers will now be able to offer their end user communities an even more resilient network infrastructure with the performance and availability that only UltraDNS can provide.”
