UK2.net Launches VPS Platform with “Plug ‘n Go” Templates for Web Hosts

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web host UK2.net (www.uk2.net) has launched a new VPS platform, featuring scalability, self-healing, dedicated resources, full root access to the server and security on a Gigabit network.

According to UK2.net’s Monday announcement, the new platform can include nearly 100 “plug ‘n go” templates including those for blogs, galleries, MySQL, Web servers, as well as optimised versions of the most popular server software for Web hosts and developers.

“We are seeing a definite trend where individuals and companies alike are moving towards virtually hosted servers,” UK2 product and e-commerce director Andy Manning said in a statement. “The benefit is clear with reduced total cost of ownership through the reduction of maintenance and hardware costs. Our VPS product brings the advantages of a hosting infrastructure that used to be the preserve of large companies and makes it available to all. We wanted to make it easy for our shared hosting customers to setup and install so that they have the tools and the confidence to keep on growing successful websites. The VPS platform is ideal hosting platform for blogs, e-commerce shops and development environments.”

Compared to the setup of a conventional server, which normally takes a a skilled technician hours to complete, virtual servers on this new VPS platform take only minutes to setup.

Further, the platform is very flexible for multi-tenant applications. Each VPS can be broken into smaller “nodes”, allowing users to either deploy one large VPS as a main server, or setup multiple nodes, each with a different template and function.

The parent of a large family of hosting brands such as UK2.net, midPhase, and WestHost, the UK2 Group launched VPS.NET (www.vps.net), a redundant cloud system designed to simplify the process of virtual private server cloud hosting, earlier this year. VPS.NET used the same “node-based” system, where each node represents a quantity of system resources.

UK2.net VPS plans start with its one-node configuration, which is available starting at £9.95 ($15.88) per month for 10 GB of storage, 376 mb of RAM, 0.6 GHz of processing, 250 GB of monthly traffic. For more demanding applications, UK2.net offers the UKV1600 for £99.95 ($159.52) per month, featuring as many as 10 virtual nodes, 100 GB of storage, 3760 MB of RAM, 6 GHz of processing, 2 TB of monthly traffic. All plans include Gigabit network speed.

Being completely virtualised, VPS Cloud hosting has the advantage of being independent of system failures, and it is able to scale to customers’ hosting requirements. Ensuring optimal uptime, all data is mirrored and stored independently from the processing servers.

“In an industry that is constantly changing due to rapid technological advancements, we have to keep on developing and pushing out the highest quality products which are affordable and reliable for our valued customer base,” Manning concluded.
